Advocacy training in law schools may teach you all you need to know in theory but when it comes to doing it for real it can seem a very different matter. Advice on matters of procedure and practice is invaluable in helping young advocates develop the basics of good practice and extend their skills. We hope that this training event will provide an opportunity to address some of the questions that arise during the preparation and conduct of a case and help build the confidence of trainees and young solicitors embarkins on a career in litigation.
District Judges Christopher Birkby and David Kirkham have generously agreed to present this workshop session and will offer practical advice on preparing for hearings and successfully conducting a case before the Judges. Whilst the exact content has yet to be finalised it is anticipated that the session will cover civil practice.
The Judges are keen to hear from you as to the topics you would like them to cover. Please email your suggestions, or any specific questions that you would like them to address, to katherine@sheffieldlawsociety.co.uk
